The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Brussles will host the kick-off meeting of the ARISE project, African Research and Innovative initiative for Sickle cell Education: Improving Research Capacity for Service Improvement. The meeting, scheduled on January 15-16, 2019 will officially start the activities of this project, coordinated by Fondazione per la Ricerca Farmacologica Gianni Benzi Onlus (Italy) and the Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation trust (UK).

The project is aimed at creating a multidisciplinary staff-exchange program of expert or early-stage researchers between European (Italy, France, UK, Cyprus and Greece) and non-European (Nigeria, Lebanon, Kenya and USA) relevant institutions in order to share and spread the best practices for neonatal screening, diagnosis and treatment of sickle cell disease.
