The 2019-2020 Clinical Practice Guidelines on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) were published by the American Society of Hematology (ASH).

These guidelines aim to identify the best practices for the management of acute and chronic complications of SCD and the ways to improve the quality of care for patients.

It is crucial to update treatment guidelines reflecting the newest evidences about the disease.

The guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for emergency medicine physicians, primary care and family physicians and haematologists so that they can better manage SCD and also allow the patients to make the best decisions for their care.
