Lewis Hsu, MD, PhD, is director of pediatric sickle cell and professor at University of Illinois at Chicago. His research in sickle cell disease includes community health workers, implementation science, health education, stroke risk, pain management, and vasculopathy in mouse models. He co-authored the “Hope and Destiny” books for family education on sickle cell. His community engagement and volunteer service includes Sickle Cell Disease Association of America and global experience at 3 sites in Nigeria plus Brazil. This broad experience with training, engaging stakeholder groups, and clinical care qualifies Dr. Hsu to collaborate in the ARISE program.
